Prof. Shengjie Ling is an Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator at the School of Physical Science and Technology at ShanghaiTech University. He received his BS from Zhejiang University of Technology (2009) and his PhD in Polymeric Chemistry and Physics from Fudan University (2014). From November 2012 to August 2013, he served as a Visiting Ph.D. Student (CSC joint Ph.D. Programme) in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, ETH Zürich (Switzerland). From 2014 to 2017, he conducted postdoctoral research at MIT, USA. His research interests include the characterization of recombinant proteins and natural materials using synchrotron infrared and X-ray techniques, the analysis of natural material design strategies using molecular dynamics simulations, and the development and application of biomimetic materials, bio-nanomaterials, and biofunctional materials.
