Joaquim Esteves da Silva is a full professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (Portugal). He completed his studies in Chemistry in 2007 at the University of Porto Faculty of Sciences, obtained a PhD in Chemistry in 1994 at the University of Porto Faculty of Sciences, and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1985 at the University of Porto Faculty of Sciences. He has published more than 300 articles in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has also published over 20 book chapters. His main research focuses are bioluminescence/chemiluminescence; the green synthesis of luminescence nanoparticles; environmental sustainability; green materials and coatings; water disinfection and disinfection byproducts; natural organic matter; soil remediation; and human health risk assessment.
