The increasing integration of the distributed renewable energy sources highlights the requirement to design various control strategies for microgrids (MGs) and microgrid clusters (MGCs). The multiagent system (MAS)-based distributed coordinated control strategies show the benefits to balance the power and energy, stabilize voltage and frequency, achieve economic and coordinated operation among the MGs and MGCs. However, the complex and diverse combinations of distributed generations (DGs) in MAS increase the complexity of system control and operation. In order to design the optimized configuration and control strategy using MAS, the topology models and mathematic models such as the graph topology model, noncooperative game model, the genetic algorithm, and particle swarm optimization algorithm are summarized. The merits and drawbacks of these control methods are compared. Moreover, since the consensus is a vital problem in the complex dynamical systems, the distributed MAS-based consensus protocols are systematically reviewed. On the other hand, the communication delay issue, which is inevitable no matter in the lowor high-bandwidth communication networks, is crucial to maintain the stability of the MGs and MGCs with fixed and random delays. Various control strategies to compensate the effect of communication delays have been reviewed, such as the neural network-based predictive control, the weighted average predictive control, the gain scheduling scheme, and synchronization schemes based on the multitimer model for the case of fixed communication delay, and the generalized predictive control, networked predictive control, model predictive control, Smith predictor, H∞-based control, sliding mode control for the random communication delay scenarios. Furthermore, various control methods have been summarized to describe switching topologies in MAS with different objectives, such as the plug-in or plug-out of DGs in an MG, and the plug-in or plug-out of MGs in an MGC, and multiagentbased energy coordination and the economic dispatch of the MGC. Finally, the future research directions of the multiagent-based distributed coordinated control and optimization in MGs and MGCs are also presented.

Due to the advantages of superior harmonics attenuation ability and reduced size, the LCL filter has been widely adopted to interface between the inverter and the grid for improving the quality of injected grid currents. However, the high-order characteristics and various constraints of the LCL filter complicate the filter design. Moreover, the stability of the internal current control loop of the individual inverter is susceptible to the inherent LCL -filter resonance peak. Meanwhile, the overall system stability would be aggravated by the external interactions between the inverter and the weak grid as well as among the paralleled inverters. Both the LCL -filter resonance peak and two types of interaction would cause severely distorted grid currents. Motivated by the existing problems, a comprehensive review on the modeling and stability analysis of the LCL -type grid-connected inverters is conducted in this paper. Concretely, the generalized parameter constraints of the LCL filter are outlined to facilitate the passive components selection, and the magnetic integration techniques of filter inductors are also introduced to reduce the weight and size of filter for increasing the power density of the system. Then, the various damping methods for enhancing the individual internal stability and the relevant application issues are also discussed. Furthermore, the impedance-based method for evaluating the system-level interactive stability is subsequently reviewed, with the emphasis on different modeling methods of inverter output impedance and online impedance measurement techniques. Finally, the future research trends on the modeling and stability analysis of LCL -type grid-connected inverters are also presented.

The large-scale application of wind power and photovoltaic power solves the energy crisis and alleviates the environmental problems caused by the use of conventional energy. However, they are at risk of being randomly tripped from the network when faced to voltage sag and severe fault events, which will lead to a sudden reduction of active power output and also complicates fault recovery process of the whole system. Moreover, it may also aggravate failures and lead to large-scale power outages, which stimulates a growing interest in analyzing the low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) capabilities of the renewable energy systems (RES) and improving the performance through developing various mathematical models and analysis tools. In this paper, a systematical overview of cause, classification of voltage sag phenomena and voltage sag emulating techniques is presented, and four voltage sag generators (VSGs) are discussed and compared, which include generator based-VSG, shunt impedance based-VSG, transformer based-VSG and full converter based-VSG. Furthermore, a closed-loop detection platform based on real-time digital simulator (RTDS) for the converter controller of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PWSG) set is introduced, to investigate the LVRT performance of the WT system under grid voltage sag conditions. Finally, the application of VSG in RES are presented and the future research directions are also discussed.
