Dr. Eric A. Weaver is a Professor in the School of Biological Sciences and the Director of the Nebraska Center for Virology at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Dr. Weaver received his B.S. and M.S. from Texas State University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Genetics from Texas A&M University. In 2003, he was awarded an NIH T32 training fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in the Duke Human Vaccine Institute. Afterward, he pursued a second postdoctoral position at Baylor College of Medicine. In 2006, Dr. Weaver joined the Mayo Clinic and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2007. He joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska in 2015. Dr. Weaver’s research focuses on the design and development of vaccines using bioinformatics, genetics, and molecular biology combined with pathogenesis and immunology to create and modify prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines that are delivered using multiple vaccine delivery systems, including viral vectors. Dr. Weaver also plays an active role in teaching, training, and mentoring students and postdocs in Virology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Microbiology.
