In recent years, with the higher requirements for the performance of cement-based materials and the call for energy conservation and environmental protection, a wave of research on new materials has set off, and various high-performance concrete and more environmentally friendly geopolymers have appeared in the public. With a view to solving the defects of energy consumption, environmental protection and low toughness of traditional cement-based materials. At the same time, nanomaterials have become a focus of current research. Therefore, the research on the properties of cement-based materials and geopolymers modified by graphene and its derivatives has aroused extensive interest of researchers. Graphene-based nanomaterials are one of them. Because of their large specific surface area, excellent physical properties have been favored by many researchers. This paper reviews the research progress of graphene-based nanomaterials in improving the properties of cement-based materials and geopolymer materials, and points out the main challenges and development prospects of such materials in the construction field in the future.
Wind tunnel tests and numerical simulations are the mainstream methods to study the wind-induced vibration of structures. However, few articles use statistical parameters to point out the differences and errors of these two research methods in exploring the wind-induced response of membrane structures. The displacement vibration of a saddle membrane structure under the action of wind load is studied by wind tunnel tests and numerical simulation, and statistical parameters (mean, range, skewness, and kurtosis) are introduced to analyze and compare the displacement data. The most unfavorable wind direction angle is 0° (arching direction). The error between experiment and simulation is less than 10%. The probability density curve has a good coincidence degree. Both the test and simulation show a certain skewed distribution, indicating that the wind-induced vibration of the membrane does not obey the Gaussian distribution. The displacement response obtained by the test has good stability, while the simulated displacement response has strong discreteness. The difference between the two research methods is quantitatively given by introducing statistical parameters, which is helpful to improve the shortcomings of wind tunnel tests and numerical simulations.
The orthotropic membrane structures have been popular in architectural structures. However, because of its lightweight and small stiffness, large nonlinear deflection vibration may occur under impact load, which leads to structural failure. In this paper, the governing equations of the large deflection nonlinear damped vibration of orthotropic saddle membrane structures excited by hailstone impact load are proposed according to the von Kármán’s large deflection theory and solved by applying the Bubnov–Galerkin method and the method of KBM perturbation. The approximate theoretical solution of the frequency function and displacement function of the large deflection nonlinear damped vibration of saddle membrane structures with four edges fixed excited by hailstone impact was obtained. The analytical examples proved that the mode shape function (equation (43)) can be applied to calculate the single‐order mode shapes and the total superposed mode shapes of the damped large nonlinear deflection vibration of orthotropic saddle membrane structures excited by hailstone impact load succinctly. In addition, we compare and analyze the results of vibration frequency, amplitude, time histories, and total displacement of membrane structures with different pretensions and arch‐to‐span ratios under the impact of differently sized hailstones. The correctness of the analytical theory is verified by comparing with the results of numerical simulation. According to the results of this paper, we put forward some suggestions for the vibration control and dynamic design of practical spatial membrane structures.
