Alberto J. L. Macario, MD, is an adjunct professor at the School of Medicine, University of Maryland at Baltimore, Baltimore, MD, USA, and currently also works at the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology, Baltimore, MD, USA. He did postgraduate work at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, and then held positions in Italy, France, and the USA. His current interests are the chaperone system and chaperonopathies with a focus on chaperonins genes/proteins.
