Alexander Shkurinov received his PhD in 1988 from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), and is a Doctor of Physics and Math Sciences (Habilitation) (2013, Prokhorov General Physics Institution, RAS, Moscow), a Professor with the Department of Physics at Lomonosov Moscow State Universality (MSU), head of the Laboratory of Terahertz Optoelectronics and Spectroscopy at MSU, and a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is a leading, world-recognized scientist in the field of terahertz spectroscopy. He is an associate editor for Optics Express, a topic editor for IEEE Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology, and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Infrared, Millimeter, and THz Waves.
