Professor Dr. Jolius Gimbun teaches chemical engineering at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP). He joined the faculty in August 2004 and did a PhD in fluid mixing and product formulation at Loughborough University, UK. He was a director of CARIFF (now Fluid Centre), head of department (Chemical Engineering), and head of the BioNexus Pilot Plant UMP. Dr. Gimbun specialised in computational fluid dynamics and population balance modeling, with about 20 years of experience in his work in Malaysia and the United Kingdom. He has performed several industrial CFD projects for Petronas Research, MTBE Petronas, Lynas, Carsten & Ranico, and Perwaja. Over the years, he has expanded his research to include food engineering (herbal processing, protein) and biofuels (syngas, biodiesel, and bioethanol). Jolius belongs to the world's top 2% of scientists, according to Stanford University. He reviewed journal submissions for over 60 impact factor journals and served as editor for Elsevier, Hindawi, Inderscience, and Frontiers. He holds three granted patents for food, herbal, and biofuel technologies. He supervised 2 postdocs, 14 PhDs, and 18 MSc students to completion. Jolius regularly served as an examiner for the Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC) as well as for HiCOE, KKP, SETARA, MyRA, and FRGS (Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia).
