Luis Bonifacio is a senior researcher at Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária (INIAV, I.P.) He is an entomologist and ecologist at the Entomology Lab. of the Plant Health Unit, a Portuguese reference Lab for Plant Health. He represents INIAV at International organizations such as expert in EPPO working groups for PRAs and is a member of EPPO Quarantine Pest for Forestry and is deputy of IUFRO World Group. For more than 30 years has been leader or team member in 10 international and 30 national research projects on Forest Integrated Pests Management of pines, oaks, eucalyptus and other trees species and has focused on strengthening international collaborations through the participation in 53 national and international meetings. He is committed to students' supervision and teaching, at the national and international level and to disseminate scientific knowledge as co-author of 14 book chapters, 24 papers in indexed peer review publications and 14 technical publications and guides.He has been a scientific reviewer for 31 international journals.
