A photodetector with a high spectrum selectivity and enhanced responsivity has been realized in the ZnO NPs coated Au/ZnO/Au structure. In this structure, the ZnO NPs act as the “filter” that filtrates out the short-wavelength photons to ensure the high spectrum selectivity of the photodetector, whereas on the other hand they act as the “scatterer” to scatter incident light in order to increase the absorption of the ZnO film and consequently enhance the responsivity of the photodetector. In this way, a photodetector with a response width of only 10 nm has been obtained, and the responsivity of the photodetector is 0.052 A W−1 at 3 V at the wavelength of 376 nm, which is higher than that of the bare Au/ZnO/Au structured photodetector (0.028 A W−1). The results reported in this paper may provide a facile route to a highly spectrum-selective photodetector without performance degradation.

To improve the performance of a Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe00.2O3−δ (BSCF) oxygen electrode in a solid-oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC), Ag particles were added to increase its conductivity and thus its electrochemical performance. The experiment results showed that the polarization resistance of Ag decorated BSCF-SDC oxygen electrode with the appropriate amount of Ag particles was lower than that of BSCF-SDC oxygen electrode. Especially, the polarization resistance of Ag decorated BSCF-SDC oxygen electrode with 1.3 wt.% Ag particles (noted as 1.3Ag-BSCF-SDC) was as low as 0.006 Ω cm2. The 1.3Ag-BSCF-SDC oxygen electrode showed good stability in the short-term electrolysis durability test. The electrolysis cell based on 1.3Ag-BSCF-SDC oxygen electrode showed better performance than that based on BSCF-SDC oxygen electrode. Therefore, this method is an effective way to improve the performance of a BSCF-based oxygen electrode for an SOEC.

Since the conduction activation energy of a proton is low, proton-conducting solid oxide fuel cells (H-SOFCs) can work at low temperatures (around 600 °C), which is conductive to maintaining the long-term stability of SOFCs. Proton conductor BaCe1-xYxO3-δ is the most commonly used electrolyte material for H-SOFCs, which directly affects the performance of SOFCs. For the purpose of realizing the high-performance BaCe0.8Y0.2O3-δ (BCY) proton electrolyte materials for SOFC, the effect of different contents of the transition metal oxide NiO on the performance of proton electrolyte BCY was studied. Specifically, BCY-x mol% NiO (named BCY, BCY + 0.5NiO, BCY + 1NiO, BCY + 2NiO, and BCY + 3NiO, when x = 0, 0.5, 1, 2, and 3, respectively) composite electrolyte materials were prepared, and their crystal structures, morphologies, and electrochemical properties were explored. The results showed that NiO could effectively improve the density of BCY prepared at 1400 °C and enhance the proton conductivity of BCY and the performance of BCY-based SOFCs. Among them, the BCY + 2NiO electrolyte had good density and the highest proton conductivity, and the SOFC based on the BCY + 2NiO electrolyte had the best electrochemical performance, indicating that the optimal content of the NiO additive was 2 mol% in this case. The results reported in this work are conductive to the realization of high-performance proton electrolyte materials for the SOFC.
