Associate Professor Merita Rroji currently serves as a Lecturer at the University of Medicine, Tirana, and is a nephrologist at the University Hospital Center "Mother Tereza" in Tirana, Albania. She carried out her postgraduate studies and training in nephrology at the University Hospital of Tirana, Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Policlinico Sant’Orsola Malpighi, Bologna and Gent University Hospital.
She obtained her PhD in Internal Medicine, focusing on Nephrology, from the University of Medicine, Tirana. She was an “ISN Fellow” trained at Gent University. Following her PhD, she was appointed associate professor at the same university, the Department of Internal Medicine, Service of Nephrology. Professor Rroji's research interests center on Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral and Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD), clinical aspects of nephrology, kidney transplantation, and haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis techniques.
