Dr Rónán Doherty is Lecturer in Sports Nutrition in the Department of Tourism & Sport at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) and a Principal Investigator with the DICE Innovation Academy.  He also serves as part of the Performance Nutrition team at Sport Ireland. He completed his PhD in sleep, nutrition and athlete recovery at Northumbria University in collaboration with Sport Ireland Institute and University of Limerick.  He has led multiple applied sport science and nutrition projects, including investigations into sleep & recovery practices in athletes, nutrition-sleep interactions, supplementation effects on recovery, and oversight of PhD and other research students. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles across journals and conference proceedings in topics such as athlete recovery, sleep, nutrition, injury risk and performance. He serves as a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr), is listed on SENR (Sport & Exercise Nutrition Register) in the UK / Ireland, and holds roles in societies and research networks in sports nutrition and sleep science. His teaching disciplines include sport nutrition, nutritional recovery / metabolism, athlete performance & recovery strategies, and supplementation & functional foods. His research interests encompass sleep–nutrition interactions in athletes, recovery and regeneration, nutrition for injury prevention and rehabilitation, performance nutrition in elite sport, and dietary strategies to optimize athlete recovery.
