Aerodynamic drag force breakdown of a typical transport aircraft shows that lift-induced drag can amount to as much as 40% of total drag at cruise conditions and 80-90% of the total drag in take-off configuration. One way of reducing lift-induced drag is by using wing-tip devices. By applying several types of winglets, which are already used on commercial airplanes, we study their influence on aircraft performance. Numerical investigation of five configurations of winglets is described and preliminary indications of their aerodynamic performance are provided. Moreover, using advanced multi-objective design optimization software an optimal one-parameter winglet configuration was determined that simultaneously minimizes drag and maximizes lift.

The requirements for the accuracy of measurements in a wind tunnel test become more and more severe while the complexity of the test increases. In an environment of reduced time available for wind tunnel test and increasing test costs, it is important that the accurate calibrations and verifications of all components of the measurement chain in a wind tunnel facility are established, maintained and statistically controlled through prolonged periods of time. The paper presents the efforts undertaken to establish and maintain a system of control of the quality of measurements in the T-35 4.4 m × 3.2 m low-speed wind tunnel of the Military Technical Institute in Belgrade. The assurance of the quality of measurement in this facility is based on ensuring the quality of three main constituents: the calibration of the test section of the wind tunnel, the calibration of the instrumentation used, and the periodic tests of the standard wind tunnel models. Sample results from relevant wind tunnel calibration tests are presented and compared with the results from other facilities. The tests confirmed a good overall quality of the facility, and that the achieved quality level has to be maintained, periodically checked and systematically documented.

In this note, the experimental results of wind-tunnel measurements of lift coefficient and lift-curve slope for aerofoil NACA 0012 obtained from the VTI-Institute Zarkovo, are presented. The results were obtained from tests and integrations of surface static-pressure data over a model of the NACA 0012 aerofoil section. The data were obtained for a free-stream Mach number range of 0·25-0·8 and a chord Reynolds number range of 2-25MRe. The essential results of these measurements along with the results from other authors are presented and evaluated. The principal factors which influence the accuracy of two-dimensional wind-tunnel test results are analysed. The influences of Reynolds number, Mach number and wall interference with reference to solid and flow blockage as well as the influence of side-wall boundary-layer control are analysed. Interesting results brought to light the Reynolds number effects of the test model versus Reynolds number effects of the facility in subsonic and transonic flow as well as the effects of the side-wall boundary-layer control and wall interference.

Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is a multiparameter surveillance system designed to improve key segments of air traffic: enabling real-time surveillance, raising safety and efficiency levels, and improving flight information and weather services. ADS-B consists of two subsystems, ADS-B Out and ADS-B In. Although only a complete system, ADS-B In/Out provides numerous benefits (additional situational awareness, more efficient oceanic routing, etc.) FAA and EASA only require ADS-B Out (by January and June 2020, respectively), whereby ADS-B In remains optional. Because of its many advantages, ADS-B In/Out will be popular, but there are some weaknesses, which are primarily related to its cyber vulnerabilities due to insufficient authentication and encryption in the applied protocol. In this paper, an overview of the ADS-B system is presented as an aid to understanding the security problems and the different ways of potential attack. In addition, this review deals with the current state of ADS-B deployment and its future perspective and challenges.

The paper explains the fundamentals of bionics. Using the basic principles of bionics, an analysis was made of the movement of legged biological systems on the basis of laboratory observations and measurements, in which they studied the movement of biological systems moving with the help of its legs. Then the 3D model of the robot is designed inspired with insects with six legs and using two of the four basic principles of movement with the help of legs. 3D model was created with the of Solidworks software package. A mathematical model with Matlab Simulink - SimMechanic Software. Using modern software tools like Solidworks and Matlab Simulink a mathematical analysis of its mechanism for movement in a 3D environment is performed. It is shown that the Bionics with the help of modern software engineering can be a powerful tool, but to get complete results it is necessary to apply all the principles that is obtained by the analysis.
