Alessandro Vitale, PhD, is a civil engineer and he is currently a researcher and technical coordinator at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Calabria, where he manages laboratories on environmental emergencies, territorial planning, and cultural heritage. He holds the National Scientific Qualification for Associate Professor in Transport Infrastructure and Systems (ICAR/05).
His research interests include GeoAI, remote and proximal sensing, photogrammetry, smart mobility, and transport system design. He has participated in numerous national and international projects and has authored publications in these fields. He is co-founder and COO of the academic spin-off Smart-Oriented Mobility Solutions (SOMOS), awarded by NTT Data for innovation in traffic optimization.
Vitale has extensive teaching experience in higher education. He has lectured in Geomatics and Topography at the University of Calabria, contributing to the Civil Engineering degree program and the Master’s in Intelligence for Legality and the Protection of Cultural and Archaeological Heritage. He has supervised numerous undergraduate theses and participated in professional training courses on transport and road safety. He is a member of the Asia Computational Intelligence Society and serves on the editorial boards of several international scientific journals.
