Dr. Antonio Jorge Forte is an M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Division of Plastic Surgery, Mayo Clinic (Jacksonville, FL, USA). Dr. Forte is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and he has also obtained the Certification in the Subspecialty of Surgery of the Hand. Currently, he serves as Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Forte received an M.D. degree from the Federal University of Ceara Medical School (Brazil) in 2006, followed by a Master’s degree in Pharmacology in 2009. He completed a PhD in Sciences (Clinical Surgery) at the University of Sao Paulo in 2017. Furthermore, in addition to his six-year integrated residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Yale University, he completed a one-year Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at The Buncke Clinic. Dr. Forte is a member of the Editorial Board of Microsurgery and Annals of Plastic Surgery, and an invited reviewer for other major journals related to plastic surgery. He has 260 publications with more than 1700 citations (Scopus, 17 April 2024) and an h-index of 18. He also qualifies as an Early Stage Investigator (ESI) per NIH parameters. He is currently studying how to objectively assess post-surgical pain using sensors and AI to analyze biomarkers.
