Background: The management of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) requires a comprehensive approach that considers multiple factors, including the impact of oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL). Through this investigation we aim to assess the impact of OHRQoL played in a TMD‐afflicted individual. Methods: Using keywords relevant to our research, such as “Oral health related quality of life,” “Oral hygiene,” “Temporomandibular joint” and “Temporomandibular disorders,” a comprehensive search across multiple online databases was carried out, yielding a total of 632 studies at the preliminary stage of the review. Modified New Castle Ottawa scale was used to assess the quality of studies included. Results: Eight studies were included in the review, out of which six were eligible for further meta‐analysis. The studies included in this review employed various OHRQoL measures, including the Oral Health Impact Profile—14 (OHIP—14), the Short‐Form 36 Health Survey (SF‐36) and the OHIP‐ 49. All the studies demonstrated significant effect of TMDs on the OHRQoL of the target population under study. Conclusion: The impact of OHRQoL on the management of TMD was deemed to be significant. The comprehensive management of TMD should consider the impact of the condition on the individual's daily life and incorporate interventions that address both the physical and psychological aspects of the condition. By improving OqL, individuals with TMD can experience improved overall well‐being and quality of life.

Resorbable collagen has been utilized to treat wounds, close graft, and tooth extraction sites, and enhance recovery. Collagen-based membranes are also used as barriers in periodontal and implant therapy to limit epithelial migration and allow cells with the regenerative capacity to fill the problem area. This systematic review was carried out to analyze the studies focusing on collagen structure, synthesis, and its applications. A detailed and extensive search was performed with the help of the keywords "collagen structure", "collagen synthesis" and "collagen applications". There was extensive literature search in reliable and authentic databases like PubMed, Scopus, Web of Sciences, Ovidsp, and Cochrane library to obtain papers focusing on collagen structure, synthesis, and applications. During the systematic review, data were obtained concerning the following parameters. Type of study, nature of aim of the study, size of the sample in the study, gender and age of the subjects included in the study, prevalence of skin diseases where collagen was used for treatment, dose of collagen used, form in which collagen was used, the origin of collagen used, analysis of different variables, structure, and synthesis of collagen. Twenty-two studies were included in this systematic review. The studies discussed the structure, synthesis, and applications of collagen in treatment. In studies focusing on the application of collagen supplements, most of the study subjects were females (68.3%). The study subjects included both healthy and unhealthy subjects. The study subjects were divided into two categories. One category was the intervention group, while another group was the placebo group. Collagen was administered in hydrolysate form (90%) in some studies, bovine form (2.3%), and porcine form (3.4%) in other studies. Collagen supplementation was found to provide better results in both healthy and unhealthy effects in improving the health of skin, cornea, bone, periodontium, face, etc. It can be concluded that collagen is an integral part of the body. The application of collagen supplements can be pretty effective in maintaining the proper health of several important structures of the body like skin, face, cornea, nails, periodontium, etc. Thus, a detailed study of the molecular structure of collagen and genes associated with each type of collagen is essential for further research and treatment of collagen-associated disorders.

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of Rose Bengal (RB), methylene blue (MB) and curcumin used as a canal disinfectant on the extrusion bond strength (EBS) of FRCP (fiber reinforced composite resin) with canal dentin. Methods: The present invitro study was completed in 90 days approved by Riyadh Elm University. Forty premolars were extracted disinfected and decoronated. Mechanochemical preparation was done of canal space using 10k file widening canals sequentially with a 25K file with constant saline irrigation. Canal was dried condensed with gutta percha and sealer. Post space was prepared using peso reamer. Based on canal disinfection samples were divided into four groups. Group-1 MBP+17% EDTA, Group-2 RBP +17% EDTA, Group-3 Curcumin+17% EDTA and Group-4 5.25% NaOCl +17% EDTA. Following disinfection, the canal space of all specimens was washed with 17% EDTA for 120 sec. Post was cemented in canal space and cured. Specimens were placed on Universal testing machine (UTM) for EBS. The type of bond failure was evaluated using stereomicroscope. ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison test was used to compare means. Results: Cervical third of Group-3 in which samples were disinfected with CP+17% EDTA displayed the maximum EBS (8.69±1.32 MPa). Whereas, the lowest EBS (3.30±0.54 MPa) was exhibited by the apical third of Group-4, where 5.25% NaOCl +17% EDTA was used as a canal disinfectant. The intragroup comparison demonstrated a declining trend of EBS from cervical to apical third in all investigated groups. Conclusion: Root canal dentin treated with different PS (MBP, CP, and RBP) demonstrated better EBS than the conventional disinfecting regime (NaOCl +17% EDTA). CP and RBP displayed better EBS than MBP. doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.38.1.4780 How to cite this:Niazi FH, Qamar Z, Noushad M, Khaled Bin Muhareb A.
