Biography

Rebeca Garcia Fandiño is an Associate Professor and researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. With extensive experience as a principal investigator at the Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS), she has made significant contributions in her field. Her research revolves around the interdisciplinary study of supramolecular chemistry, biology, and materials, utilizing computational techniques to explore the structure and function of lipid membranes. By investigating the interactions between these membranes and biomolecules, her work aims to uncover the complex relationship between cancer, infection, and aging. Her primary objective is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms behind these processes in order to develop effective therapies and drugs. Garcia-Fandino has published over 50 scientific articles and several book chapters. She also plays a key role in MD.USE Innovations SL, a start-up from Santiago de Compostela University, established in 2015. The company offers computational simulation services and develops molecular simulation and visualization software, using technologies like virtual reality and augmented reality. MD.USE currently collaborates with various pharmaceutical companies working on excipients and anti-aging solutions.
