Prof. Takahashi holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil), with specialization in IndustrialPharmacy. She obtained a Doctorate in Sciences (Organic Chemistry) from UFMG in 1994, doing part of her research at the University of Sussex (UK), under the guidance of Prof. J.R. Hanson. She has been a Professor at UFMG since 1996, working mainly in the area of natural products of fungal origin, biotransformation and bioremediation. Prof. Takahashi worked for a year (2002) with Prof. Leslie Gunatilaka at the University of Arizona (USA). She was the Coordinator of the Disciplinary Nucleo of Bioactive Natural Products and its applications, of the Association of Universities of the Montevideo Group.
