Pier Paolo Bassareo graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Cagliari, and specialized in Cardiology at the University of Cagliari. He completed a Ph.D. investigating the pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system in congenital heart disease before pursuing an MSc degree in Adult Congenital Heart Disease in Bologna (Italy). He was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (Dublin, Ireland) in 2018, and he is also an Associate Clinical Professor in Cardiology at the University College of Dublin, School of Medicine. He was appointed as a Scholar in Cardiology (landmark fellowship of the Italian Society of Cardiology), FESC (Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology), and FACC (Fellow of the American College of Cardiology).
