Prof. Roh received his BS (1995), MS (1997), and PhD (2001) in Chemical Engineering from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. Currently, he is a director of the BK 21 Four project and a full professor of the division of Environmental and Energy Engineering, Yonsei University, Wonju, South Korea. He began his career at Yonsei University in 2008 after working at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, Daejeon, South Korea; the Pacific Northwest National Lab, Richland, USA; the Korea Institute of Energy Research, Daejeon, South Korea. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of CO2 Utilization, Catalysts, and Applied Sciences. His achievements include the publication of more than 200 SCIE papers and 26 patents. He has been named among the world's top two percent of scientists by Professor John loannidis (Stanford University) and published in PLOS Biology (2021, 2020 single-year, 2021 career-long). His research interests include environmental catalysis, including catalyst design, manufacture, characterization and application, and reactor design for hydrogen production through reforming and water–gas shift reactions. His research has most recently focused on the effect of oxygen storage capacity on redox properties of catalysts. His research also focuses on C1 chemistry, bio-oil upgrade, desulfurization, liquid-phase oxidation of aromatic compounds, deNOx, microwave catalysis, synthesis of nanoporous materials, inorganic membranes, and VOCs removal.
