Raquel E. Galian currently works as a researcher scientist at the Institute of Molecular Science, University of Valencia, Spain. She received her Ph.D. in chemistry at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina, in 2001. Then, she was a postdoctoral researcher (2001–2006) at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, (Spain) and University of Ottawa (Canada). During those years, she studied photosensitization processes with aromatic ketones using laser flash photolysis techniques and was involved in photonic crystal fiber/semiconductor nanocrystal interaction projects. She was awarded with a Ramón y Cajal Contract and then received a permanent position at the University of Valencia in 2017. Her main interest is the design, synthesis, and characterization of emissive semiconductor nanomaterials, nano-heterostructures, and multifunctional nanoplatforms for sensing, photocatalysis, and electroluminescent applications. In addition, she is also interested in the compatibilization of nanoparticles for photodynamic therapy.
