Joaquin Silvestre-Albero studied chemistry in the Inorganic Chemistry Department, University of Alicante, Spain, where he received his PhD in 2003 in the group of Prof. Rodríguez-Reinoso. Then, he spent one year in the group of Prof. Corma at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ), Valencia, Spain, and two more years at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, Berlin, Germany, in the group of Prof. Freund. He is currently working as an associate professor of inorganic chemistry at the Inorganic Chemistry Department, University of Alicante. He has received several awards including the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung. He has been a visiting professor at the Vienna University of Technology (Austria), Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), and Universidad Nacional de San Luis (Argentina). His interests include materials science, adsorption processes, nanotechnology, heterogeneous catalysis, and nanomedicine.Dr. Silvestre-Albero has been working for the last few years in the design, synthesis, and characterization of nanoporous solids for a wide range of applications from gas storage and separation to heterogenous catalysis and nanomedicine.
