Carlos Cavaleiro, Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra and Researcher of Chemical Process Engineering and Forest Products Research Centre. He earned his PhD in Pharmacy, speciality of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry from the University of Coimbra in 2001. His research on the Biology and Chemistry of Natural Products applied to: Life and Health Sciences–contributions for drug discovery, efficacy and safety of herbal drugs, development of methods for quality assessment of herbal medicinal products, dietary supplements, and cosmetics; Biological Sciences–contributions on plant diversity and conservation; Forest Sciences and Crop Production-contributions to alternative crops of medicinal and aromatic plants, technology, and quality of essential oils.
