Drone detection is a significant research topic due to the potential security threats posed by the misuse of drones in both civilian and military domains. However, traditional drone detection methods are challenged by the drastic scale changes and complex ambiguity during drone flight, and it is difficult to detect small target drones quickly and efficiently. We propose an information-enhanced model based on improved YOLOv5 (TGC-YOLOv5) for fast and accurate detection of small target drones in complex environments. The main contributions of this paper are as follows: First, the Transformer encoder module is incorporated into YOLOv5 to augment attention toward the regions of interest. Second, the Global Attention Mechanism (GAM) is embraced to mitigate information diffusion among distinct layers and amplify the global cross-dimensional interaction features. Finally, the Coordinate Attention Mechanism (CA) is incorporated into the bottleneck part of C3, enhancing the extraction capability of local information for small targets. To enhance and verify the robustness and generalization of the model, a small target drone dataset (SUAV-DATA) is constructed in all-weather, multi-scenario, and complex environments. The experimental results show that based on the SUAV-DATA dataset, the AP value of TGC-YOLOv5 reaches 0.848, which is 2.5% higher than the original YOLOv5, and the Recall value of TGC-YOLOv5 reaches 0.823, which is a 3.8% improvement over the original YOLOv5. The robustness of our proposed model is also verified on the Real-World open-source image dataset, achieving the best accuracy in light, fog, stain, and saturation pollution images. The findings and methods of this paper have important significance and value for improving the efficiency and precision of drone detection.

In order to enable the calibration model to be effectively transferred among multiple instruments and correct the differences between the spectra measured by different instruments, a new feature transfer model based on partial least squares regression (PLS) subspace (PLSCT) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the PLS model of the master instrument is built, meanwhile a PLS subspace is constructed by the feature vectors. Then the master spectra and the slave spectra are projected into the PLS subspace, and the features of the spectra are also extracted at the same time. In the subspace, the pseudo predicted feature of the slave spectra is transferred by the ordinary least squares method so that it matches the predicted feature of the master spectra. Finally, a feature transfer relationship model is constructed through the feature transfer of the PLS subspace. This PLS-based subspace transfer provides an efficient method for performing calibration transfer with only a small number of standard samples. The performance of the PLSCT was compared and assessed with slope and bias correction (SBC), piecewise direct standardization (PDS), calibration transfer method based on canonical correlation analysis (CCACT), generalized least squares (GLSW), multiplicative signal correction (MSC) methods in three real datasets, statistically tested by the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The obtained experimental results indicate that PLSCT method based on the PLS subspace is more stable and can acquire more accurate prediction results.

The diagnosis of depression in individuals with Parkinson's Disease (PD) through the utilization of multimodal fusion techniques represents a significant domain. The primary challenge involves the creation of a robust fusion framework to address the heterogeneity among different modalities effectively. However, previous studies primarily focused on interactions between heterogeneous data, neglecting the structural similarities among isomorphic data, resulting in a substantial loss of feature information when merging heterogeneous data. In this study, we introduced a multi-modal data image encoding and fusion approach for diagnosing depression in PD patients. Additionally, we proposed a multi-modal dataset encompassing motion, facial expression, and audio data. Firstly, we designed an RGB and sparse coding method to encode the multi-modal data, achieving the isomorphic transformation of multi-modal information and extracting feature information from lower-dimensional spaces. Furthermore, we introduced a Spatial-Temporal Network (STN) to fuse the three types of encoded images. We incorporated the Relation Global Attention (RGA) to enhance feature extraction and leverage all encoded image location feature nodes for balanced decision attention. Finally, recognizing the limitations of traditional machine learning algorithms in handling multi-tasks in medical diagnosis, we established a multi-task weighted loss function to achieve depression identification and severity prediction through Multi-Task learning (MTL).

Calibration transfer is an important field for near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy in practical applications. However, most transfer methods are constructed with standard samples, which are expensive and difficult to obtain. Taking this problem into account, this paper proposes a calibration transfer method based on affine invariance without transfer standards (CTAI). Our method can be utilized to adjust the difference between two instruments by affine transformation. CTAI firstly establishes a partial least squares (PLS) model of the master instrument to obtain score matrices and predicted values of the two instruments, and then the regression coefficients between each of the score vectors and predicted values are computed for the master instrument and the slave instrument, respectively. Next, angles and biases are calculated between the regression coefficients of the master instrument and the corresponding regression coefficients of the slave instrument, respectively. Finally, by introducing affine transformation, new samples are predicted based on the obtained angles and biases. A comparative study between CTAI and the other five methods was conducted, and the performances of these algorithms were tested with two NIR spectral datasets. The obtained experimental results show clearly that, in general CTAI is more robust and can also achieve the best Root Mean Square Error of test sets (RMSEPs). In addition, the results of statistical difference with the Wilcoxon signed rank test show that CTAI is generally better than the others, and at least statistically the same.

Tracking and segmenting small targets in remote sensing videos on edge devices carries significant engineering implications. However, many semi-supervised video object segmentation (S-VOS) methods heavily rely on extensive video random-access memory (VRAM) resources, making deployment on edge devices challenging. Our goal is to develop an edge-deployable S-VOS method that can achieve high-precision tracking and segmentation by selecting a bounding box for the target object. First, a tracker is introduced to pinpoint the position of the tracked object in different frames, thereby eliminating the need to save the results of the split as other S-VOS methods do, thus avoiding an increase in VRAM usage. Second, we use two key lightweight components, correlation filters (CFs) and the Mobile Segment Anything Model (MobileSAM), to ensure the inference speed of our model. Third, a mask diffusion module is proposed that improves the accuracy and robustness of segmentation without increasing VRAM usage. We use our self-built dataset containing airplanes and vehicles to evaluate our method. The results show that on the GTX 1080 Ti, our model achieves a J&F score of 66.4% under the condition that the VRAM usage is less than 500 MB, while maintaining a processing speed of 12 frames per second (FPS). The model we propose exhibits good performance in tracking and segmenting small targets on edge devices, providing a solution for fields such as aircraft monitoring and vehicle tracking that require executing S-VOS tasks on edge devices.
