Prof. Dr. Alakananda Basu received her MS in Biochemistry from the University
of Calcutta, her Bachelor in Chemistry (with honors) from the University of Calcutta, and her PhD
in Biochemistry from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. One of her major
research efforts is to investigate how signal transduction pathways regulate
cell survival and cell death. Another area of her research is to investigate the
molecular mechanism(s) of drug resistance. Her Research Interests Signal
Transduction, Cancer Biology, Protein kinase C. Akt, S6 kinase, Breast Cancer.
