—We have studied the optical properties, band structures and group velocities,of one dimensional photonic crystal (1-D PC) containing negative index materials using translational matrix method (TMM). The 1-D PC containing negative index materials is a periodic arrangement of positive index material (PIM) and negative index material (NIM). The observed group velocity of such structure is larger than the speed of light in certain range of normalized frequency which shown abnormal behaviors. The group velocity of the PC containing negative index materials have found larger than the speed of light. The values of the group velocity become zero, negative and positive for normalized frequencies. The structure containing negative index 16,Pandey et al. materials can be used to trap the photons inside the PC i.e.,light localization occurs without introducing the defects.

Superconductor-plasma based hyperbolic material (SPHM) and meta-material-plasma based hyperbolic materials (MPHM) are the plasma based composite hyperbolic materials. Using the effective medium theory, the permittivity of SPHM and MPHM has been investigated. Perpendicular and parallel permittivities, real and imaginary part, versus normalized frequency have been analyzed with variation of filling fraction of composite hyperbolic material. The optical properties of one-dimensional ternary periodic structure (1DTPS) containing Si, SiO 2 and SPHM or MPHM have been studied using the well-known simple transfer matrix method and Bloch’s function. The absorption spectra of 1DTPS containing plasma based hyperbolic material have been analyzed with the variation of incident angle, electron collision frequency of plasma and filling fraction of the composite materials. By studying absorption property of 1DTPS, the absorption spectra of MPHM were found to yield better results compared to the absorption spectra of SPHM. The calculations reveal that meta-material-plasma based hyperbolic material may be used to design the sensor, detector and switching applications at microwave region.

In present work, we report the N-(p-hexyloxy-benzylidene)–p-toluidine (HBT) liquid crystal (LC) molecule having maximum absorbance due to the O–C stretching (carbon atom of benzene ring) during the intermolecular interaction. Under the expansion of an external electric field, the HBT LC having nematic to smectic phase stability with adverse (negative values) order parameter and birefringence. The refractive index expresses stability in the nematic, smectic, and isotropic phases. The director angle maintains stability for the nematic phase in the adverse order and smectic phase stable in positive order.
In this paper, long range surface plasmon resonance (LRSPR) biosensors with cytop/Al/Perovskite and cytop/Al/MoS 2 configurations have been theoretically investigated and compared with standard LRSPR biosensor with cytop/Al/graphene configuration. To calculate the optical properties of considered configurations for the desired application, transfer matrix method for TM mode has been used to obtain reflectance. The sensitivity of the considered configurations for designed biosensors has been investigated with variation of optical parameters of the structure. A new configuration of LRSPR biosensors based on Al- MoS 2 or Al-Perovskite has been proposed to enhance sensitivity, detection accuracy, and efficiency. The maximum value of sensitivity of the proposed Al-Perovskite based LRSPR biosensor is found to be 4847 RIU −1 . Moreover, the sensitivity of Al-MoS 2 and Al-Peroskite based LRSPR biosensors show nearly 10% and nearly 30% more optical responses respectively than the Al-graphene based LRSPR biosensor.
