Isabel Padilla works at the Materials Department of the Eduardo Torroja Institute for Construction Science at the Spanish National Research Council (IETcc-CSIC). Dr. Padilla is a member of the Materials and Energy for Sustainable Development group (MEDES), whose activity is focused on the development of lightweight aggregates, the synthesis of zeolites from metallurgical wastes, and the valorization of industrial wastes through environmentally friendly processes using concentrated solar energy (CSE) as an energy source. Dr. Padilla worked with the Value Added Materials from Non-Conventional Sources group until 2017. She specialized in the development of methods for recycling of industrial waste into raw materials and the use of CSE to obtain metals, ceramics, etc. She studies the thermal behavior of materials and the physical, chemical, mineralogical, and morphological characterization of minerals, wastes, etc. Dr. Padilla was in the Metallurgical Chemical Analysis Research Group of CENIM-CSIC until 2008. She specialized in the development of systems for the chemical characterization of metals and in the preconcentration/separation of metals from water. Dr. Padilla has participated in 35 projects, contracts, or technical research works, in the development of 10 analytical standards, and in the certification of 18 reference materials and 4 standardization procedures. She is the co-author of 58 articles, 14 books, and 10 book chapters, and the co-inventor of 3 patents.
