Biography

I am Dr. Anthi Petrou, a researcher in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the School of Pharmacy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece. My academic background is in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and my research focuses on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of novel bioactive molecules with potential therapeutic applications. My scientific interests include medicinal chemistry, heterocyclic compounds, antiviral and anti-inflammatory drug discovery, molecular modeling, and structure–activity relationship (SAR) studies. I am particularly interested in the development of benzothiazole-based compounds and other small molecules targeting key biological pathways involved in human diseases. I have authored and co-authored scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and have participated in national and international research collaborations. I currently serve as Guest Editor of a Special Issue in *Molecules* focusing on benzothiazoles as privileged scaffolds for biologically active molecules. My mission is to bridge synthetic chemistry, computational drug design, and biological evaluation to contribute to the discovery of innovative and effective therapeutic agents.
