Prof. Dr. Jose Rodriguez received an Engineering degree from the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria, Valparaiso, Chile, in 1977 and a Dr.-Ing. degree from the University of Erlangen, Erlangen, Germany, in 1985, both in electrical engineering., Since 1977, he has been with the Department of Electronics Engineering, Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria, where he was a Full Professor and President. From 2015 to 2019, he was the President of Universidad Andres Bello, Santiago, Chile. From 2022 to 2023, he was the President of Universidad San Sebastian, Santiago, Chile. He is currently the Director of the Center for Energy Transition, at Universidad San Sebastian.  His main research interests include multilevel inverters, new converter topologies, control of power converters, and adjustable-speed drives. He is a member of the Chilean Academy of Engineering.
