Francisco Heras, PhD, is Ass. Professor at the Dpt. of Chemical Engineering of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). He has participated in thirteen research projects funded through competitive public calls (including two collaborative networks between groups) as PI in two of them. He have authored 40 scientific papers in indexed journals placed in Q1 (86%) and D1 (66%) and 59 contributions in national and international conferences. His h-index is 20. He has supervised three Doctoral Theses and one more currently in progress, focused on the treatment and valorization to hydrogen of waste biomasses from different industries, and sixty Bachelor and Master Theses. His former research was focused on valorization of waste streams from stainless steel industry, gas phase hydrodechlorination and preparation of advanced carbon materials and their use as adsorbents, catalytic supports and electrodes for superconductors. Currently, his research is devoted to the development of aqueous phase reforming process for the valorization of different biomasses to bio-hydrogen through the combination of experimental and simulation contributions to explore viable and scalable applications in the context of sustainable production and circular economy. He is a member of the Editorial Board and Guest Editor of several special issues for the Applied Sciences and Biomass journals, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Spanish Carbon Group Newsletter.
