In 2018 Thomas Sepperer acquired his Diplomingenieur (Master of Science) at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg in Kuchl in the Department of Forest Products Technologie and Timber Construction where he worked on the purification of tree-derived polyphenols for the use in lightweight foam production. Currently he is working as a Researcher in the same department and also working on his PhD thesis dealing with the influence of purity on the properties of tannin-based materials as well as tannin-ceramic hybrid materials. His fields of interest include plant-derived tannins, wood modification and functionalization, valorization of by-products from forest- timber- and agricultural industries, management environmentally harmful pollutants as well as manure treatment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
