Alfredo Cigada was born in 1965. He received his M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering and his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering. He is a Professor of Mechanical Measurements with Politecnico di Milano. His main research topics are in the field of new measurement systems, with a focus on MEMS and fiber optic sensors, and on data management. The main applications of his research are in the area of structural health monitoring for civil structures and cultural heritage.
