Peter Vidmar (1977) was awarded a Ph.D in Maritime and Transport Science at the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport, University of Ljubljana, and an M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana. He is working in the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transportation as an Assistant Professor in nautical engineering and quantitative methods. His research mainly focuses on the simulation and safety analyses of maritime and transportation systems with an emphasis on road tunnel problems and engine room fire simulations. His background includes mechanical engineering, material and welding technology, and CFD modeling. He has worked on several applicative research projects from 2000 and is currently working on two more. He has participated in over thirty international conferences all over the world and his bibliography includes several scientific papers. He is an active member of the Slovenian society for traffic science. The methodology of CFD-based risk assessment was the topic of his doctoral thesis and has already been applied in practical road tunnel applications belonging to QRA methodologies.
