Dr. Vladimir V. Strelnikov is the Head of the Epigenetics Laboratory at the Research Centre for Medical Genetics. He is also a Professor of the General and Medical Genetics Chair at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University under the Russian Ministry of Health. He graduated from the Medical and Biological Faculty of Pirogov Russian National Medical University in 1997 and majored in biochemistry. He defended his thesis, “The study of structural and functional disorders of the X-chromosome, leading to various forms of X-linked mental retardation”, in 2000, supervised by Prof. Zaletaev D.V. In 2012, he defended his doctoral thesis, “A comprehensive study of malignant neoplasms methylotypes: fundamental and applied aspects”. He has been awarded many Awards and Honors, such as a nomination for the Diploma of Rospatent in "100 best inventions of Russia for 2013" (2014), a nomination for the Award of the "In Vita Veritas" Russian Society of Oncologists for "The best research project" (2013), the Diploma "For fruitful work on medical science and health care development" of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (2009), the Prize of the American Association of Oncologists for the study of breast cancer epigenetics (2006), and so on. His research areas include the epigenomics of malignant neoplasm cells, the development of new high-tech approaches to epigenomic research, and the genomics of human congenital diseases.
