Facial expression is an unspoken message essential to collaboration and effective discourse. An inner emotional state of a human is expressed using facial expressions and is very effective for communication with actual emotions. Anger, happiness, sadness, contempt, surprise, fear, disgust, and neutral are eight common expressions of humans. Scientific community proposed several face emotion recognition techniques. However, due to fewer face landmarks and their intensity for deep learning models, performance improvement for facial expression recognition still needs to be improved for accurately predicting facial emotion recognition. This study proposes a zoning-based face expression recognition (ZFER) to locate more face landmarks to perceive deep face emotions indemnity through zoning. After face extraction, landmarks from the face, such as the eyes, eyebrows, nose, forehead, and mouth, are extracted. The second step is zoning each landmark into four regions and zone-based face landmarks are passed to the VGG-16 model to generate a feature map. Finally, the feature map is given as input to fully connected neural network (FCNN) to classify facial emotions into multiple classes. Various experiments are performed on facial expression recognition (FER) 2013 and CK+ datasets to evaluate our proposed model with state-of-the-art facial expression recognition approaches using performance assessment metrics like accuracy. The accuracy of the proposed method with face features on CK+ and FER2013 are 98.4% and 65%, respectively. The experimental zoning results improve from 98.47% to 98.74% on the CK+ dataset.

Purpose: In this digital era, email is the most pervasive form of communication between people. Many users become a victim of spam emails and their data have been exposed. Design/methodology/approach: Researchers contribute to solving this problem by a focus on advanced machine learning algorithms and improved models for detecting spam emails but there is still a gap in features. To achieve good results, features also play an important role. To evaluate the performance of applied classifiers, 10-fold cross-validation is used. Findings: The results approve that the spam emails are correctly classified with the accuracy of 98.00% for the Support Vector Machine and 98.06% for the Artificial Neural Network as compared to other applied machine learning classifiers. Originality/value: In this paper, Point-Biserial correlation is applied to each feature concerning the class label of the University of California Irvine (UCI) spambase email dataset to select the best features. Extensive experiments are conducted on selected features by training the different classifiers.

White blood cells (WBC) are an important component of immune mechanism, as they protect human body from parasites, viruses, fungi, and bacteria. The number of blood cells provides significant information related to infections such as AIDS, leukemia, deficiencies of immune and autoimmune infections. To heal an infection in a timely manner, it is critical to recognize it early on. Therefore, a method is proposed to accurately segment and classify WBC at an early stage. The RGB image is converted into HSV after which dual thresholding is applied to the saturation component to segment WBC. The 1000 features are extracted from Alexnet to FC8 layer, Logits layer is selected for feature extraction from mobilenetv2, node_202 layer is utilized to extract the features from shuffle net and FC1000 layer is chosen from Resnet-18 model. Four feature vectors are obtained from transfer learning models; these feature vectors are combined serially and create the final optimized vector by non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA). The classification results are investigated on the fusion of Alexnet, shuffle net, Resnet-18, mobilenetv2 and the fusion of mobilenetv2, shuffle net and Resnet-18 whereas mobilenetv2 features are fused independently. The method is tested on three publicly available datasets such as LISC, ALL_IDB1, and ALL_IDB2. The method achieved maximum 1.00 accuracy to classify the blast/non-blast cells, 0.9992 accuracy on Basophil cells, and 1.00 accuracy on Lymphocyte, Neutrophil, Monocyte, Eosinophil, and mixture of these cells. When compared to existing modern approaches, the proposed method produces better outcomes.

Forecasting stock market prices is an exciting knowledge area for investors and traders. Successful predictions lead to high financial revenues and prevent investors from market risks. This paper proposes a novel hybrid stock prediction model that improves prediction accuracy. The proposed method consists of three main components, a noise-filtering technique, novel features, and machine learning-based prediction. We used a fully modified Hodrick–Prescott filter to smooth the historical stock price data by removing the cyclic component from the time series. We propose several new features for stock price prediction, including the return of firm, return open price, return close price, change in return open price, change in return close price, and volume per total. We investigate traditional and deep machine learning approaches for prediction. Support vector regression, auto-regressive integrated moving averages, and random forests are used for conventional machine learning. Deep learning techniques comprise long short-term memory and gated recurrent units. We performed several experiments with these machine learning algorithms. Our best model achieved a prediction accuracy of 70.88%, a root-mean-square error of 0.04, and an error rate of 0.1.
