Alejandro Galan-Mercant began his academic career with a BSc in the physical education field, and graduated as a Physiotherapist and, after that, completed a Master's Degree in Research Methodology. Finally, He completed a Doctoral Programme at the University of Málaga. His professional career and his overall life have been devoted to different tasks related to teaching, research, and clinical practice in the field of physiotherapy. He started his professional career in 2008 in the public company of the Local Sports Council of Torremolinos (Málaga), and this was the beginning of his teaching-research career, since he played a role as clinical tutor of students of BSc Physiotherapy. From 2008, he actively took part in two research groups related to the the field of physiotherapy: the first is the PAIDI Research Group (group CTS631), and he is also an emerging group member of the Instituto de investigación biomédica de Málaga (Institute of Biomedical Research), IBIMA (A-14).
