Dr Sandip Patil is working as a research scientist (SR) at the Shenzhen Children’s Hospital in Shenzhen, China. His research focuses on understanding the evolution of drug resistance mechanisms, the discovery of new genes for antibiotic and biocide resistance in a range of pathogens on the WHO priority list (e.g., carbapenem-resistant/ESBL-producing Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacteriaceae) and the application of genomic methods to understanding pathogen epidemiology, host–pathogen interaction. He was awarded the Bill and Melinda Gates young investigator award by the International Society of Infectious Diseases, USA.
