Dr. Amni Adilah Ismail is a Malaysian virologist and independent researcher holding a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health (Medicine) from the Universiti Malaya, Malaysia, with doctoral research specialising in virology. Her research focuses on viral pathogenesis, virus–host interactions and vascular endothelial biology, particularly Zika virus (ZIKV) infection and dengue diagnostics. Her doctoral research investigated ZIKV tropism across human microvascular endothelial beds, examining endothelial barrier function, permeability, inflammatory responses and gene expression using in vitro and in vivo models. Her research experience includes endothelial cell culture, viral propagation and titration, quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR), plaque and focus-forming assays, electric cell-substrate impedance sensing (ECIS), cytokine profiling and gene-expression analysis. She has also contributed to research evaluating a biosensor-based rapid diagnostic platform for dengue infections in Malaysia. Her published work includes research on Zika virus pathogenesis and blood–brain barrier interactions, dengue diagnostic validation, and SARS-CoV-2 vaccine development. Her current interests include virology, infectious diseases, computational approaches to viral research, and scientific education.
