Dr. Ahmad is currently working as an associate professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences, COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari Campus.
My research interests are plant-microbe interaction, phyto/bioremediation of heavy metals, plant-stress physiology, valorization of waste, silicon-NPs, and water monitoring and treatment.
I have completed three research projects funded by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. These projects are i) assessing immobilization of cadmium and lead in contaminated soil with compost and biogas residues, ii) unraveling the effects of nanoparticle toxicity on soil carbon and nitrogen dynamics from organic wastes, and iii) integrated bioremediation technology for the co-contaminated soil with heavy metals and pesticides to enhance productivity and quality of wheat.
I have published 110 peer-reviewed articles with a cumulative impact factor of 450 and 5000 citations. I have edited a special issue on "alternative fertilizer harnessing plant-microbe interactions (AFPMI) for improved soil and plant nutrient management" (Front. Plant Sci. https://doi.org/10.3389/fpls.2023.1333927). I am an editorial board member of the Discover Biotechnology and Environmental Pollution and Control journals.
I am a member of the Soil Science Society of Pakistan.
