Manuel Valiente completed his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1981 and his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 1991, respectively. He is the Executive Director of GTS; he has been the professor of analytical chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Autonomous University of Barcelona, since 1995. Environmental monitoring, remediation technology, and assessment of heavy metals' mobility and availability are some of the most important directions of his research on environmental pollution problems. He has 205 publications with 4137 citations and an h-index of 37 (Scopus, 17 November 2023).
