Dr. Annette McCoy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She completed her PhD studies in Comparative and Molecular Biosciences at the University of Minnesota in 2014. Her main areas of research include the investigation of genetic factors that play a role in orthopedic disease in the horse, genetic factors underlying alternative gait development, and the effect of biological and biomechanical stimuli on bone in young horses with the
goal of fracture prevention. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers in various journals and serves as a Large Animal Regent for the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and as Chair of the Preclinical Models Section of the Orthopedic Research Society.
