Biography

Dr. Beatriz Sarriá has a degree in Biology (1991) and Ph.D. in Biology (1998) from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). She completed her doctoral thesis at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science [Spanish Centre of Scientific Research (CSIC)-UCM]. She obtained a 2-year Marie Curie (category 30) EU postdoctoral contract at the Institute of Food Research (Norwich, UK). She was granted an EU Marie Curie Reintegration project (1 year) and was the first scientist in CSIC to carry out human studies with a nutrigenetic approach. Because of her experience carrying out human studies regarding the effects of plant foods on health, she is most interested in addressing interindividual variability to further understand the disease-prevention effects of food and food components. Since 2002, she has worked at the Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN-CSIC) and since 2019, she has been a Senior Researcher at ICTAN-CSIC and a part-time lecturer at Facultad de Farmacia (UCM). She has co-supervised four doctoral theses, and two are currently under development.
