Biography

I research genomics in sport and exercise, focussed mainly on elite sport and other high-level physical performance environments, e.g. military. I'm also interested in the genomics of sport and exercise capability in the general population and when physical capability is reduced such as muscle wasting / sarcopenia due to ageing or microgravity. Performance- and injury-related genetic and epigenetic variations are of interest, as is the genetic basis of sex differences in physical performance. The latter topic, in particular, has allowed me to translate research work into real-world impact.
