Biography

I am a Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry at the National Research Centre (NRC), Egypt, with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Cairo University. My research focuses on nutritional biochemistry, functional foods, nutraceuticals, bioactive food components, and their potential applications in chronic disease prevention and management. I am particularly interested in the health-promoting effects of dietary bioactive compounds, phytochemicals, plant-derived oils, and innovative food-based formulations. My research also addresses the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying inflammation, oxidative stress, metabolic dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and the interactions among the gut, brain, and cardiovascular system. I am interested in investigating how nutritional and lifestyle factors can be used as complementary approaches for the prevention and management of chronic diseases. I have authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications in internationally indexed journals and have participated in numerous research projects. I regularly serve as a peer reviewer for international scientific journals and contribute to the academic community through editorial activities. I am a member of the Editorial Board of Analytic Science and Food & Medicine Homology, and I serve as Guest Editor for the “Gut Microbiome and Human Well-Being” collection in Discover Medicine (Springer Nature). My overall research goal is to advance the understanding of how nutrition and bioactive food componen
