José Tormos is currently retired. He was full professor of zoology at the University of Salamanca (Spain) until 2019. He received his doctorate in biological sciences at the University of Valencia (Spain) in 1986. His research focused on systematics, behavioural ecology and biological control, being the author of over 150 articles on Entomology. In 2018, he received the "María de Maeztu" award for Scientific Excellence from the University of Salamanca (Spain).
