Biography

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lero – the SFI Research Centre for Software, University of Limerick, Ireland, where I work on the FORGE project, focusing on the development of privacy-preserving and interpretable machine-learning models using federated learning and grammatical evolution, with a strong emphasis on healthcare AI and synthetic data generation. I earned my PhD in 2021 from the University of Camerino (Italy), specializing in machine-learning applications for chronic disease diagnosis, medical informatics, and health data mining. Following this, I worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Camerino (UNICAM), applying machine-learning techniques to analyze clinical and genetic data for personalized healthcare solutions. I have been recognized among the top 2% of scientists worldwide (Stanford ranking) for four consecutive years (2022–2025) and have authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications with 6,500+ citations (H-index 38). My research focuses on advancing secure, ethical, and data-driven AI solutions for healthcare through interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
