Boris Majaron is a Senior Scientist at Jožef Stefan Institute and Associate Professor of Physics at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He has obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from University of Ljubljana and postdoctoral training at Beckman Laser Institute at UC Irvine, USA. His research interests have gradually shifted from optical spectroscopy of solid-state laser materials toward biomedical optics and engineering. His research experience includes thermomechanical ablation of biological tissues, advancement of photothermal treatments, noninvasive characterization of skin by photothermal radiometry and optical spectroscopy, numerical modeling of light transport in biological tissue, and development of novel nanostructures for bioimaging and therapy. He is serving on the Editorial Board of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine and Committees of several international conferences.
