Prof. Alessandro Pini graduated in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical, and Natural Sciences of the University of Siena in 1993. Today, he is an adjunct professor of Biochemistry at the same university. His research interests include the identification, characterization, and development of bioactive peptides for the development of new biotechnological drugs. In recent years, his main research topic has concerned the development of an antimicrobial peptide particularly active against important pathogens of clinical interest: in the CF field, the bacterium specifically considered was Pseudomonas aeruginosa. He is the author of a textbook adopted for the teaching of "Recombinant Antibodies" in the Biotechnology Course at the University of Siena.
