Carlos Alberto da Conceição António completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal, where he was also a research fellow in 1988 and 1989. He obtained a Master's degree in Structural Engineering in 1991 and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1995 from the same faculty, in both degrees, defending theses in the area of optimization. He obtained a Habilitation degree in Mechanical Engineering at FEUP in 2005 with a synthesis lesson in optimization. He has been a Full Professor in Mechanical Engineering at FEUP since February 2021. He was responsible for 35 editions of books, book chapters and proceedings of international conferences. He has authored and co-authored 12 books, 97 articles in international journals, 16 chapters in international books, 11 articles in national journals, 227 articles in international conference proceedings and 31 articles in national conference proceedings. He has participated in national and international projects as lead researcher and/or participating researcher; he has been an evaluator of research projects for international institutions and has also been a reviewer of scientific articles in 80 international journals and a reviewer of book proposals for international publication. He is a member of ISSMO - International Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimisation and of the Portuguese Order of Engineers.
