Roberta Cascella graduated with the highest marks in Medical Biotechnology at the University of Florence in 2008. She obtained a PhD in Biochemistry and Applied Biology at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Florence, in 2012. In 2016, she obtained a Specialization Degree in Clinical Biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Roma Tor Vergata. In 2020, she became a Researcher (RTD-A) in Biochemistry (SSD BIO/10), and in 2022, she became a Researcher (RTD-B) in Biochemistry once more (SSD BIO/10). In 2018, she obtained the National Academic Qualification as Associate Professor (Settore: 05/E1, Fascia: 2) from the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research of Italy. She is credited with more than 50 international publications (JCR) and more than 2600 citations. Her h index is 28. Her major interests are on the relationships between structure and toxicity of aberrant protein aggregates involved in protein misfolded diseases and on the study of the degradation pathways of aggregated proteins, with the aim to identify novel approach against age-associated diseases and potential therapeutic molecules for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. She is a member of the Italian Society of Biochemistry (SIB) and a board member of the Tuscany-Umbria-Marche Section (TUM) of SIB.
